Infrared Sauna Tips
Before Your Session
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Most people do not drink enough water to begin with and now that you are using an infrared sauna and sweating, it is even more important to stay properly hydrated. Always drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session. Remove all make up to allow your skin to receive the experience full benefits of the IR heat. Skip the deodorant or antiperspirant! You don’t want to block your sweat.
What to Wear
Lightweight shorts and tee shirt are okay. Swimsuits are better. More skin exposure is certainly preferable. Make sure you sit on a towel or wrap one around you to absorb your sweat and keep things sanitary.
I recommend bringing clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable to wear after your session.
During your Session (up to 40 minutes)
You may not sweat much during your first 2-3 sauna sessions. This is normal for many people, as they haven’t had a recent history of sweating. It takes a few sessions to re-train the body to do what comes naturally.
Take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. As the body continues to adjust, sweating can increase dramatically and body temperature regulation becomes more effective.
If sauna cabin becomes too hot or stuffy, you may open the door for a minute to let some fresh air inside. Drink at least 10 ounces of water. Stretching your arms, legs and back area during your session creates more body flexibility. Massage congested and knotty muscle areas to help alleviate pain and stiffness.
After your Session
When you finish your sauna session, it is important to relax and cool down while your body continues to perspire.
Shower 30-60 minutes after your session.
In the rare chance you begin feeling any pain or discomfort, your skin begins to feel clammy, or you start to feel tired or nauseous when using the sauna, exit the sauna immediately to avoid heat exhaustion or a heat stroke. Drink plenty of water to avoid.

- Are taking medication
- Have any implants
- Have a pacemaker
- Have a fever
- Have blood clots

- Cancel within 24 hours to avoid charges.
- One 30-minute session 2-3 times per week is recommended for optimal health benefits. As with any therapy with regular use benefits are enhanced. Stress, tension, and pain have formed over time and will take time to experience the greatest relief.
- Avoid drinking alcohol and using medications before the sauna.
